With two young boys in the family, owning a house that has a big yard and a shift it priorities, my time on the trail has been very limited over the last coupe of years. Without spending time on the trail, I can’t fairly evaluate/review hiking gear, but I still get the itch to write reviews on the stuff I use everyday.
I often find myself looking at everyday carry (EDC) gear with a particular interest in gear that would be useful on the trail, but not look out of place in the office. When possible I want to find quality products that have dual-use — I don’t want to carry/buy cheap gear, but at the same time, it’s not be realistic to purchase one quality set of gear for work/daily use and another quality set for the trail.
As with all gear, you usually don’t know how useful something is until you … well … use it. So instead of flooding HikingGeek.com with reviews that may or may not have relevance for hiking, I have created hikerEDC.com . All of the EDC reviews will be posted there and those they do have relevance to hiking will be posted here.
